markcon Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 i was told earlier that my driverside brake light wasnt working so popped out and got myself a new bulb. i followed the instructions in the manual but discovered the new bulbs ( i got a packet of 2 ) didnt work. i decided to take the car to my mates garage tomorrow to sort it.In the meantime i just popped up the shop and noticed when i put either my side lights or main lights on the other 2 working brakes lights come on as well! please help. iv got a 51 plate mk II Galaxy. mk2vr6 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 well go take the bulbs out and put them in properly! sounds like you've inserted them incorrectly and both filaments are getting a feed from the lighting circuit! Quote

mk2vr6 Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 pull the other bulbs and check them out, either that or the loom to the tail gate is shorting out and cross feeding Quote

gregers Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 as mk2vr6 has said the wires in the boot may be shorting out, lift the rear hatch up look top right you will see a rubber boot inside this is a bunch of wires that have the tendency to fray and cause no end of problems. Quote
